Perjuangkan solusi pengelolaan sampah Bali, Gubernur Bali Wayan Koster meneken kerjasama strategis pembangunan infrastruktur pengolahan sampah menjadi energi listrik (PSEL) bersama pemerintah pusat di Jakarta Selasa 21 April 2026. Gubernur koster didampingi Bupati Badung Wayan Adi Arnawa dan Walikota Denpasar I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara.

Proyek strategis pengelolaan sampah ini diharapkan kedepan dapat mengubah sampah menjadi sumber energi listrik terbarukan, sekaligus mengurangi beban TPA Suwung serta meningkatkan ketahanan energi di Bali.

Fasilitas PSEL dirancang untuk mengolah sampah dari wilayah Denpasar Raya dan Badung. Infrastruktur ini diharapkan dapat beroperasi pada tahun 2028 mendatang. Selama masa transisi menuju PSEL, pengelolaan sampah di Bali akan diperketat dari sumber khususnya pemilahan sampah organik. Sehingga sampah anorganik dan residu yang berkualitas saja yang akan dibawa ke TPA Suwung.

Gubernur Wayan Koster menjelaskan, untuk itu pada 31 Juli 2026, TPA Suwung akan kembali ditutup untuk sampah organik seperti yang diinstruksikan Menteri LH. Saat ini, Denpasar sudah terdapat empat (4) TPST yakni TPST Kertalangu, TPST Tahura I, II dan TPST Padangsambian, dan juga memiliki 23 TPS3R tersebar di Badung dan Denpasar.

“Pemilahan sampah dari sumber akan diterapkan secara ketat di Bali agar pengelolaan sampah menjadi energi listrik bisa optimal,” ujar Gubernur Koster.

Koster juga menyebut tumpukan sampah di TPA Suwung juga secara bertahap akan dimanfaat menjadi energi listrik ketika PSEL beroperasi nanti. Seiring waktu, Pemprov Bali juga akan berupaya agar lokasi TPA bisa dimanfaatkan menjadi ruang terbuka hijau atau taman kota.

Tanda tangan kerjasama strategis Pemerintah pusat, Pemprov Bali dan kabupaten/kota ini merupakan sinergi langkah serta konkret era kepemimpinan Gubernur Koster untuk mengatasi masalah lingkungan melalui teknologi ramah lingkungan. Bila infrastruktur ini mulai beroperasi, diharapkan volume sampah di TPA akan berkurang hingga 70–90 persen, dan pengelolaan sampah di Bali dilakukan secara modern, ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan menjadi sumber energi listrik.(Red/TN)
